Did you know that the word “rocket” comes from the Viking root “ríkr”, meaning “power”?
You probably didn’t, because I just made it up, but let’s pretend for a moment that you don’t know that. While we’re at it, let’s go ahead and pretend that “berry” shares ties with the Viking word “bera”, meaning “to carry”.
Where am I going with this? The question is, where are YOU going with this, and the answer is: Valhalla.
On May 24th, as the crescent moon wanes, the power* of Rocket Berry will carry** you to the realm of the gods—or to a grand old time at the very least. Prepare to be slain by our trademark combination of hot tunes, cool lyrics, and a lifelong commitment to getting you grooving. It's juicy; it's explosive; it's a third adjective to complete the rule of three (please insert at your leisure).
And what of the Valkyries shepherding us along this journey?
If Fleetwood Mac, Avril Lavigne, and Phoebe Bridgers joined forces to create the ultimate musical lovechild, it might look and sound a little like Rose Lubransky. Rose's full-throttle vocals, raw emotion, and infectious stage presence create a powerful, theatrical experience that cuts deep and sets your body moving. Backed by a dynamic band who each bring their own artistic flair to the stage, Rose’s unique blend of tones and genres has a distinctive energy that means no two shows are the same.
Florence Kitteridge is a 20-year-old singer-songwriter based in Pōneke. She writes alternative, wordy music for people who are hot, funny, or sad—or a combination of the three. Classically trained on the piano, she is inspired by artists such as Fiona Apple, Regina Spektor, and Kate Bush. She has played in several venues around Wellington.
The Vikings have modernised slightly, so instead of dying a glorious death, all you have to part with to attend this extravaganza is $10. You can find tickets via UTR or bring your silver penningar to the door.
